100 Daily Designs
Starting on the 1st of October, 2021, I thought of a challenge to come up with a new idea everyday and post it to social media. At the time this seemed impossible to me since I struggled to come up with any 'creative' ideas and finish design projects.
Shown below, I decided to start an Instagram account called 'rathergraphic' to hold myself accountable and share my ideas with others.
Although coming up with new ideas was difficult in my first week, I didn't let this discourage me for trying it out something new in the next week.
Upon reaching day 10, I tried creating 3D art in Blender for the first time.
Immediately, I was amazed. My first tutorial instantly made me want to learn more about making 3D art in Blender.

By making something everyday I was able to document that particular day for the future.
For example; one day I was playing soccer and I rolled my ankle.
Boom! There was my idea to work on for that day.
(See below day 52- Ankle Breaker)
Another day I was sitting at my desk hoping for some inspiration when I looked at the scrunched up balls in my paper bin. That's when I realised I could use my lack of ideas as my concept.

What did I learn?
Any idea works. Why? Because it will lead you to better ideas along the way.
Something's not working? Start over.
Don't know how to create a certain effect? Search up how to do it.

This is why becoming an iterative designer is important. In order to create and test ideas quickly.
When it comes to being creative, it is like a muscle. The more time and effort you devote to building it stronger, the easier starting creative projects will become.
That is why you should see yourself as a 'creative' person. One definition says creativity is "marked by the ability or power to create".
As per my original goal, I wanted to improve my ability of thinking of new and creative ideas in a short amount of time.
But were any of my ideas creative? That's up to you to decide.
(See below one of my more abstract ideas from day 61- Orb)
I was challenging myself to create constantly regardless of what I thought would cater to my audience. You don't know what you are capable of until you try to do achieve it.
Finally, because of this project I was able to work on multiple design briefs for other people and became more time efficient when designing.
Therefore, I recommend to practice under conditions that reflect your work environment. This includes designing under time constraints.
(See below day 64- Time)
What is it that you enjoy doing?
What skill do you want to improve at?
How might you challenge yourself to completely finish something everyday?
The biggest recommendation I have for anyone reading this is to try it out for yourself.
I will finish this project overview with this insightful quote:
"You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have."- Maya Angelou

I plan to start another 100 day project, this time on posters, in the near future, so keep an eye out for that.
